Stick to the Plan

"It's so hard to stay on track in the summer"
I hear this all summer long. Excuses for poor habits at picnics, grad parties and lack of gym use in the summer.

I'm going to let you know, wellness is not EASY any season of the year. It comes down to commitment, there will always be something going on or something happening no matter what season it is. Granted there are different obstacles for each individual, it still always comes to bucking down and chasing your goals.

I'm not saying you have to sacrifice everything you enjoy. I actually do not think you should sacrifice at all. That's not very good for your health either, but make it easier for yourself. Plan, prepare, and make it fun!

Plan ahead if you know you're going to be out and about, busy, running the kids from soccer to tennis and here and there be prepared. Have snacks for yourself that fit your numbers. We have a lot of options for fast snacks - seasonal fruits and veggies that will give you a change of pace from your usual foods.

The summer is also an opportunity for fun new workouts that will help increase your activity and keep you moving! Take advantage of the nice weather, it will increase your vitamin d and your exercise! Challenge yourself or friends to a sideline body weight workout, push ups to the number of points on the board every time a goal is scored or lunges when there is a turnover. There are a lot of challenges you can workout depending on the sport, but make the most of the sitting time you have to endure.

It is hard to stay on track all year round but it is also important because what we ask of you and what you are asking of yourself will get you to your goals!

Stick to the plan make the most of what you have and most of all have fun!

Yours in good health,
Lauren
