Mindful = Body Full Part 2
How to train your body to be more mindful.
Slow down: eat slower enjoying the food you eat and finding an understanding of if you are eating because it is on your plate or because you are hungry. This will help avoid over eating. Try putting your silverware down between bites, enjoy conversation during meals. Eventually your body will be trained and you don't have to always eat at a grandpas pace. ( but maybe still take the time to enjoy the time your spending with the people you eat with, that's a different story though)
Put your food on display: if you eat straight out of the package you are more likely to eat till its gone rather than a serving or till satisfaction.
In the same respect, leave a little food on your plate. This will condition your body and mind to stop interpreting and empty plate as being full. I know we were all raised to eat everything on our plate but our minds are always playing tricks!
Appreciate your food: or act like a critic: I would rather you actually decide you like it to eat it rather than just eating because it is there to eat. I'm not saying to be overtly picky and drive your friends and family nuts but make a choice; do I like cake? Should that mean I like and need to eat all cake? Any flavor? Is it maybe dry and not worth the calories? Same with other treats.
Eliminate distractions: eating while multitasking sometimes seems necessary but can leave you consuming more mindlessly.
These are just a few tips and tricks, noting to get hung up on but maybe a source of noticing where your extra calories are hiding!
Yours in good health,
