New year, new you?
No. This hasn't worked in the past so why would it in 2016? Dr. Oz didn't suggest it either so there is no way it works!
This year try something new. New day, best you? Perhaps.
Simply trying to be the best person you can be each day as leaving the bad days behind seems to be much more achievable, and can be applied in more ways than just fitness.
Here's my challenge for this year. Set a goal for the year, something you probably do each year and always feel like you fell short. A year is a long time, the new year comes at a mentally and physically tough time and we don't often feel satisfied when resolutions come around again. Maybe next years goal is to just feel like the resolution was not a complete fail.
In addition to the year goal create achievable short term goals. This way you are able to prove to your self that you did make progress. Less time beating yourself up over some hiccups, more time being grateful for what you did accomplish.
Monthly goals an quarterly goals will help you move forward with a purpose. Maybe you use a special date or something rewarding, vacation or a night out for your birthday. Set a goal and go after it, using a shortened period of time to achieve the goal creates better adherence and a more satisfying feeling. Once you achieve that you can leap forward to the next month or event.
This isn't designed to yo-yo however it's not a quick fix to fit into the wedding outfit or what ever event you use as a goal. It's progress on a timeline, always moving forward to the next goal, never in a manner that will rebound you faster than you got to the goal.
Finally, this year set daily goals. Maybe you have a different focus each month. January might be drink more water daily. February could be take your vitamins each day, and continue with the habit established in January. It could even be a goal just to be more positive daily. However each month that passes each goal becomes a habit. Then by this time next year you will have established 12 new and healthy habits. A continuance of good habits is overall going to make you happier and more satisfied in all aspects of your life!
Set goals. Go after them. Give yourself a reason to be proud.
