Gut reaction

The American journal of clinical nutrition posted that there are two specific functional fibers that aid in increased "good" gut bacteria (bacteroidetes).

These include poly-dextrose and soluble corn fiber.

Subjects that had more bacteroidetes were said to be leaner thus indicating that having good gut bacteria is beneficial for weight loss.

This can be fostered by eating plenty of plant based fiber and whole grains, or even the addition of a probiotic regularly  or after the use of an antibiotics.

I often hear about people feeling bloated when starting to increase vegetables or fiber, even after taking an antibiotic. This is normal and caused by the lack of gut bacteria present. It is important to be patient and allow gut bacteria to be developed and start working  over the course of about 2 weeks. Proper hydration or the assistance of a probiotic will help in this process.

It is important to understand that some of our synthetic protein powders or amino acids often have digestive enzymes also. Knowing what is in our foods or supplements is important when ending the use or starting the use of a product. Our bodies adjust to the assistance of such enzymes and can react differently when lacking.  An example of this you may have experienced is lactose or gluten. When your body adjust to not having such a thing when you reintroduce them you may feel a certain kind of sick I don't want to discuss in a blog 😝.  This is a result of not having such an enzyme or property active in your system, your body just needs time to adjust.

Find a balance the works for your body and be aware of adding or subtracting product or nutrients that can cause bloating or other digestive problems. Balance with this knowledge is key!
