Introduction from Paul

My name is Paul Emmick, and I would like to introduce myself.

Between martial arts, bodybuilding, and powerlifting, I have been training/competing for 23 years. I began my personal journey when I was 7 years old, training in Chun Kuk Do.  From the very first day I entered the studio, I knew I wanted my black belt. After many years of training and tournaments, I eventually achieved the rank of first degree black belt. I did not stop there. I began teaching childrens classes, between the ages of 6-14. I wanted to share the lessons I had learned, and teach children not just how to fight and defend themselves, but also about discipline and respect. I understood how vital these lessons were to me growing up, and sharing these to kids of a young age would help them grow into driven, successful teenagers and adults.

I eventually shifted focus into the weight room. Again, from pretty much the first day in the gym, I knew exactly what my goal was- compete in bodybuilding and be successful. My new years resolution for 2004 was to get in shape and start working toward this. I naturally had a small frame, weighing only 130 pounds at the time, so I knew this was going to take time, dedication, focus, and a smart plan. I spent the next few years learning the science of training. I was fortunate to have good direction from the beginning and avoided a lot of beginner mistakes. I understood the science behind what I was doing and why I was doing it, which allowed me to consistently progress. I learned what hard work was, how to grind thru workout, and to stay mentally strong while dieting and doing 3 a day workouts.

After a few years of training, I finally competed in a bodybuilding competition in 2008. I won my weight class and the overall at that show. After achieving that goal, I turned to powerlifting for my next challenge. Powerlifting is so much fun, not just because you are lifting heavy weight, but because in my opinion, it is much more technical and takes much more planning in training to hit the elite number you are striving for. Its not just about going in and thowing weights around, you have to train smart, and yes, eat smart too. I have competed in SHW, 308, 275, and 242 weight classes, and have set or broke many State, American, and World records in 2 different federations. My best competition lifts are a 900lb squat, 600lb bench press, and 755lb deadlift.

I began working as a personal trainer after my bodybuilding competition in 2008, for the same reason I martial arts. Training means a lot of different things to different people. Maybe you just want to lose 20 pounds. Maybe you just want to be healthy. Maybe you want to be a competitive athlete. Maybe you don’t know where to get started, and your life feels chaotic. I LOVE being able to help you take the first step to improving the rest of your life. I LOVE it when a client hit a new PR because I know how much time and effort it takes. I LOVE it when a client finally fits into that pair of pants they have been dreaming of for years. There are many pieces to the fitness puzzle, and if one piece isn’t there, you will not have the complete picture you are working towards. Let me help you become the best version of yourself. To avoid the mistakes. To develop the consistent strengths that will translate inside the gym and out. To become a champion.

I am proud to be a member of the ChrisFit family.

I’ll see you at the squat rack.
