Starting From Scratch

I have done a LOT of initial consults with perspective clients/members over the last 7 years. Too many to count. Many people currently exercise and just need guidance. Many have been athletes or have exercise in the past. And many have never before set foot in a gym. They are walking in blind, taking a step to start from scratch in unfamiliar and scary territory.
These individuals have to take a pretty big first step (or 18 actually...) in walking in the gym door, and they often feel intimidated. It makes sense. The word GYM can conjure up mental images of hulking leviathans sweating, grunting, and lifting superhuman weights while covered in chalk and listening to Swedish death metal (to be fair, we actually have one of those but Paul is really a big teddy bear). It can bring to mind the notion of a gym floor solely occupied by beautiful young females dressed in all spandex putting the self image of just about anyone to shame (we also have those, and I can assure you that each and every one of them would greet you with a smile and stop their workout to help a new person through an exercise). The word GYM might even bring with it a connotation of physical pain that the uninitiated would find most unsettling (and let's be honest, the day after leg training can be ugly, but there's nothing more beautiful than advancing in age and being able to climb stairs, get up and down from the floor, and walk around unassisted).
My point?
The gym can sound terrifying, but within the walls of ChrisFit we have a way of making people feel more comfortable. This is in part due to having a great team of trainers and staff, but in a larger part due to our membership.
Our members and clients are a supportive crew. Members stock the ladies room with convenience items like band aids, hair ties, and Motrin out of their own pockets, just to give back. They buy coffee for the kitchen. And they welcome new trainees with open arms, and offer guidance and encouragement to all. (And for the record, telling someone "great job, I bet you can do even more next time!" is not deprecation of the day's effort, it's anticipation of the success of tomorrow. But that's another story.)
Bottom line, ChrisFit is here to help EVERYBODY. Our trainers are here to guide any fitness level to success. Athletes of all sports, bodybuilders, powerlifters, first time trainees, and those who have exercised for years are all part of why we do what we do! And our awesome group of members creates a welcoming environment where we don't need a designated "no judgement zone" because the entire place lets you feel at ease whether it's your first day or fifth year.
